"Giants of Jazz" June 23, 2006

(Week 44)

This week's RADIOLA is devoted to gems from Time-Life's landmark album series, "Giants of Jazz." I've skimmed from 25 of these LP sets (some I bought in the 80s, some from eBay) for a panoramic vista of Jazz Valhalla. This is the music that kept me from spelunking the Kenmore Cave of Forever during my Highly Depressive 20s.

Yes, Virginia, there were good reissues before the Digital Age. Tune in tonight from 7 until 10 EDT on WHCL for a tantalizing sampling of the riches that lay embedded in vinyl.
